Hi everyone! As I write this I’m on my way to Europe for the first time! I’m going to London, Dublin, and Galway, and I’m so excited.
Today I had the pleasure of reading The Distance Between Stars, by Nicole Conway. I received an advanced reader’s copy of this book to review, and I’m SO glad I did. I just tore through the whole book on the plane. This book was a completely original premise and very well done.
Joseph Clancey is an Army vet with PTSD and mutism. Beverly is a ballerina with solar urticaria (she’s allergic to sunlight). When Joseph begins working at Beverly’s house he notices the shadow of a girl he never sees. She haunts the upstairs, where he isn’t allowed. But one day she begins leaving him notes in the notebook he uses to communicate, and the two bond over how they feel cut off from the world.
I won’t spoil the book for you guys, but I have to say I really enjoyed it. First off, the whole premise is very original. It takes the “girl in a tower” trope and uses it in a totally new way. Second, the romance was truly palpable. The connection that the two characters shared because of their experiences truly feels real, and they’re such a perfect couple. Third, I really loved the theme of starlight throughout it. I can’t spoil anything, but I will tell you that you’ll always remember this book when you look up at the stars. I kind of fangirled because I loved this couple so much.
If you haven’t already gotten it I seriously suggest you check out this book. It’s available on amazon! Final rating- 4.5/5
Thanks for reading my review guys! I’ll be posting another one soon. Until then, happy reading 🙂
