Crooked Kingdom

Hey Guys! I just finished Crooked Kingdom, the sequel to Six of Crows and omggggg this book was incredible! Spoiler warning- this review will have spoilers of the first book in the series, Six of Crows. If you haven’t read my review of the first one, you can find it here. Now, let’s get to the reviewing…

This book was a very strong sequel to an already incredible book. I’ll admit that I was a little bit worried about starting this book because I was just so in love with the first one that it felt like the second one couldn’t possibly live up to my expectations. It did.

As you guys remember from the first book, the sequel had a lot of plotlines to handle. There was the Jesper-Wylan flirting, Kaz- Inej denial of feelings, Nina-Matthias most complicated relationship ever, Nina’s new drug problem, Kaz’s revenge plot, Jasper’s future as a grisha, and Inej’s kidnapping. I can honestly say that it handled them all excellently. The couples in this book are actually some of my all-time favorite ships. Here’s my ranking of my favorite ships in this book.I mean how can you not want Jesper and Wylan together?

3rd place- Nina and Matthias

My only real problem with this ship is Matthias. I know that he has a character arc and realizes the error of his ways, but I still just can’t forgive him. I think Nina deserves better. That being said, they did have good chemistry. I mean how can you not want Jesper and Wylan together?

2nd place- Jesper and Wylan

These two are adorable. I mean how can you not want Jesper and Wylan together? “Maybe I like your stupid face!” These two are unendingly cute. How Jesper will say something flirty and Wylan just turns bright red? Painfully cute.

1st place- Inej and Kaz

These two are my favorites. The chemistry between them is palpable every time they’re in the same room. Also in the sequel they have one of the all-time best lines. Plus they’re just such a badass couple! Inej and Kaz, kickin ass and takin names. Yeah, basically I will never not love this ship.

Dialogue-wise this book was even better than the first, something that I didn’t think was possible. You can really see how Leigh Bardugo grew as a writer from the first book, and her dialogue was even more hilarious. More than anything, I just want to hang out with the dregs. They’re so awesome.

Overall, this book was a really strong sequel. It continued swith strong character development, introduced more awesome storylines, and made me wish that this series would go on forever. I strongly suggest that you guys go and read it now. Like, right now.

Final rating- 5/5

Thanks for reading my review, and until next time, happy reading 🙂
