Vegan Cornbread

Hey guys! So this week we had an unseasonably cold summer day (really rare here in Maryland), and my grandma made chili. She asked me to make the cornbread, so of course, I immediately began designing a vegan cornbread. It came out delicious, all buttery and a little sweet. So without further ado, here is my recipe.



-1 cup of non-dairy milk (IΒ prefer soy)

-6 tbsp vegan butter (I use Earth balance)

-1 cup of all purpose flour

-1 1/4 cup cornmeal

-1 tbsp baking powder

-1/2 tsp salt

-1/2 cup white sugar


  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Combine all ingredients in a large bowl.
  3. Spoon batter into a greased 8×8 pan.
  4. Bake for 20 minutes.
  5. Eat with lots of butter.

And there you have it! Delicious vegan cornbread, all ready to go.

  1. Cornbread isn’t something eaten often in the UK, I’m not even sure if you can buy it in the supermarkets (though I’ve never looked for it). I like the look of yours though, looks rather tasty.

    I have to say that I have never tried cornbread in my life. I was vegan for a few years when I was younger but then I have stopped. Recently I had this idea of becoming vegan once again.
    Just because I felt really good without meat, milk or eggs. And honestly I had such a good blood test as a vegan πŸ™‚

  3. I love that this cornbread is super easy to make and doesn’t contain a long list of ingredients. Finding vegan recipes that are inexpensive is usually hard for me! I’m going to try and become vegan (again!) so this will definitely come in handy.
