Hey guys! HAPPY HALLOWEEN! I don’t know about you guys, but Halloween is one of my all-time favorite holidays. I just love everything about it! The candy, the dressing up, the spooky movies, everything. So without further ado, I give you my favorite spooky books for Halloween!
#3- The Graveyard Book, Neil Gaiman
This incredible book is both spooky and well written. The first time I read it, I immediately wanted to read it again. It treads the line between spooky and scary, so it’ s completely appropriate for kids.
Bod is an unusual boy who inhabits an unusual place—he’s the only living resident of a graveyard. Raised from infancy by the ghosts, werewolves, and other cemetery denizens, Bod has learned the antiquated customs of his guardians’ time as well as their ghostly teachings—such as the ability to Fade so mere mortals cannot see him.
Can a boy raised by ghosts face the wonders and terrors of the worlds of both the living and the dead?

#2- Coraline, Neil Gaiman
I’ve read Coraline at least six or seven times. I absolutely love everything about this book. It’s eerie, it’s odd, it’s disturbing. You should read this book and then watch the movie to celebrate Halloween!
When Coraline steps through a door to find another house strangely similar to her own (only better), things seem marvelous.
But there’s another mother there, and another father, and they want her to stay and be their little girl. They want to change her and never let her go.
Coraline will have to fight with all her wit and courage if she is to save herself and return to her ordinary life.

#1- The Peculiar Incident on Shady Street, Lindsay Currie
You guys may remember my review for this book (you can read it here) and I definitely think it’s become one of my new October faves. I absolutely loved the creepy October vibes in it, and it is sure to be a Halloween classic!
Tessa Woodward isn’t exactly thrilled to move to rainy, cold Chicago from her home in sunny Florida. But homesickness turns to icy fear when unexplainable things start happening in her new house. Things like flickering lights, mysterious drawings appearing out of nowhere, and a crackling noise she can feel in her bones.
When her little brother’s doll starts crying real tears, Tessa realizes that someone—or something—is trying to communicate with her. And it involves a secret that’s been shrouded in mystery for more than one hundred years.
With the help of three new friends, Tessa begins unraveling the mystery of what happened in the house on Shady Street—and more importantly, what it has to do with her!
