Time Bomb Review

Hey Guys! I’m about to take the long train back to sunny Virginia with Morgan in tow. Here’s hoping for a few days of pseudo-spring beforet the noreaster kills all our flowers.

My fingers are crossed that we get to open the pool early anyways. It’s been a lovely trip and Morgan and I are working on a super special project!┬áHaving a few days off work means, you guess it, reading! I’ve almost bumped into quite a few people because I’ve had my nose in a book. You all, I’m sure, can relate.

My morning read today was Time Bomb. This is the empitome of modern thriller. Its dissonant points of views reveal the misleading perception of a few main characters. Yet, their narratives are tightly wound with each others. I love books that play with structure, and this book had the feel of a tv show. The beats are reminiscent of a camera zooming in and out.

Screen Shot 2018-03-01 at 1.33.47 PM.pngIt follows students trapped on the third floor of a bombed school. A killer has planted more bombs, trapping the firefighters outside. These kids have to escape or die. Especially with the horrible violence directed at American schools right now, this book reminds us that division and discrimination are not a panacea for our problems. Each of the students- a kind mentally ill girl, a rebellious muslim, a strong Senator’s daughter, a gay football player, and a kind leader-show the bond between people in dangerous situations, transcending prejudice and stereotypes. This book had a decent message for a thriller, and I was always looking forward to the next page. I’d give this book a 4 stars.

I wish you all a lovely spring beginning/dragging on winter wherever you are.

Happy Reading!
